Frequently asked questions
Can I select and search words in the PDF?
Ordinary document text is printed as text, so you can select and search it. Words already inside pictures remain images. A searchable PDF is not automatically a fully tagged accessible PDF.
Do hyperlinks remain clickable?
Supported ordinary web links can remain clickable through browser printing. Internal bookmarks and complex navigation may differ. Check the saved PDF and use Word’s own export when navigation or accessibility requirements are strict.
Why is there a print dialog instead of a direct download?
This option uses your browser’s text printing. Choose Save as PDF or the equivalent PDF destination in the system print dialog. Available options depend on your browser and device.
Which Word files are supported?
Use a modern DOCX with ordinary paragraphs, tables and inline pictures. For older DOC files, password protection, floating objects or advanced Word features, open the original in Word or a compatible editor and export a PDF there.
Will fonts and page breaks match Word exactly?
Not always. A browser can substitute fonts or paginate differently. Inspect the preview and the actual saved PDF, especially tables and uncommon characters.
Can I convert on a phone?
Yes, where the browser or system print menu supports saving a PDF. If the PDF destination is unavailable, use the system’s supported print or share option, or a desktop browser.
