How do I change a PDF author and title without Acrobat?
Choose the PDF, enter the new Author and Title, select Save PDF metadata, and download the copy. No Acrobat or account is needed.
Can I remove the PDF author name or clear keywords?
Yes. Leave Author or Keywords blank, then save. This does not remove names printed on pages, comments, attachments, or every other kind of hidden data.
Does changing the PDF title change the filename or visible heading?
No. The Title property is separate from the filename and page text. Rename the downloaded file separately, and use Edit PDF if you need to change visible wording.
What should I put in PDF subject and keywords?
Use a short description in Subject and helpful topic words in Keywords, such as quarterly report or community impact. They describe the document but do not change webpage search rankings.
What is the difference between Author, Creator, and Producer?
Author identifies the person or team behind the document. Creator and Producer usually identify the applications involved in making the file. These labels are not proof of authorship.
Will this remove every kind of PDF metadata?
No. It updates six standard document details and clears conflicting document-level XMP information when it saves. Custom properties, attachments, comments, and page-level details can remain, so do not use it as a complete privacy scrubber.
Will editing metadata change page quality, dates, or signatures?
The page appearance stays intact and the listed creation and modification dates are not editable here. Saving creates a changed PDF copy, so existing digital signatures will no longer be valid.
Can I edit metadata on a scanned or password-protected PDF?
A scanned PDF works because these details are separate from its page text. Password-protected PDFs are not supported; use an unlocked copy. Use OCR PDF if you need to search a scan.
Can I edit PDF metadata on my phone?
Yes, in a current mobile browser. Use an unencrypted PDF up to 50 MB; large files can need more device memory.
How can I verify that the metadata saved correctly?
Check the result comparison, then open the downloaded file in a PDF reader and inspect Document Properties. A viewer may still show the filename even when the Title property saved correctly.
