For example, 1-2, 3-5 creates two files in Separate ranges mode: one containing pages 1 and 2, the other pages 3 through 5. The same selection in Extract mode creates one five-page PDF. The source remains on your device, and the downloaded output is a separate copy.

How do I split a PDF into separate files?
Choose Every page to make one PDF for each original page, or Separate ranges to group pages into files. Both modes download a ZIP, containing the PDFs in numbered order.
How do I extract pages from a PDF into one document?
Use Extract selected pages and enter page numbers or ranges, such as 1, 3-5. The selected pages are combined into one new PDF in the order entered. This is useful when you need only part of a larger document.
Can I split PDF by size to meet an upload limit?
Yes. Choose By file size and enter a maximum in MB (1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes). Each saved PDF is checked against that size. If a single page exceeds it, increase the target or compress the source first. Output is limited to 300 MB total per operation to protect browser memory.
Can I separate a scanned PDF without OCR?
Yes. Splitting copies complete pages, so it also works with scanned pages. It preserves those pages as they are; it does not turn image text into selectable or editable text.
Can I split a PDF online without uploading it?
Yes. Your PDF stays on your device. Choose an unencrypted PDF within 200 MB and 500 pages. Large scans may work better on a desktop or in smaller batches.
Can I split by chapters or blank pages?
By bookmarks supports the first two outline levels and keeps front matter. Blank-page detection is a visual estimate: review and adjust candidates before confirming removal or splitting at separators. Faint marks or scans can be misclassified.
Will bookmarks, forms, and signatures survive splitting?
Page content is copied, but interactive forms and bookmarks may not carry over. Digital signatures will not remain valid in the new document. Keep the original if these features matter.
